The moon, today, is 239,000 miles from earth. 6,000 years ago it was 750 feet closer, that is nothing compared to how far away the moon would have been at the “beginning” of the universe related to the Big Bang.

The following list gives you the dates from today and the second part gives you the distance between the moon and the earth. Some of these numbers are not perfect because of the acceleration you get when the moon is closer and the deceleration when it is further away.

6,000 years ago

750 feet closer

1 million years ago

 238,971.6 miles away

100 million years ago

236,160 miles away

1 billion years ago

210,600 miles away

It is at this point that the rate of the moon accelerates away from the earth. This is due to the gravitational pull the two objects are enforcing on each other.

1.4 billion years ago

Moon touches earth

This is a problem because the moon was “made” well over 1.4 billion years ago. However, “making” the moon is another problem for Big Bang promoters because their theories often have the moon originating from the earth or from the same material that made the earth.

This has one main dent because the earth and the moon are chemically different, thus they cannot be made from the same material.

One of those theories is the Fission Theory. This one states that the earth spun really fast and the moon broke off from the earth. Not only would this “breaking” be very evident on today’s earth. Furthermore, the earth could never have spun fast enough to have a chunk the size of the moon emerge from itself; another problem would be the fact that the “moon” would have broken off even if the earth had spun fast enough.

And another would be the Capture Theory. This theory has the moon “catch” the moon into its gravitational pull. This would not have been possible because the moon would have had to lose most of its energy (it was obviously moving if it had to be caught) in order for the gravity of the earth to capture. If the moon was going to fast it would have catapulted away from the earth. And this theory doesn’t even the answer the question of what the moon came from!

Other theories have just as many, if not more, holes in them and the only real, sensible answer is from God:

Genesis 1:14-19:

Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years;
“and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so.
Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also.
God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.
So the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
