“I AM” has long been reverend by Jews and some Christians for thousands of years but what is the true meaning and reason for this title?

The Truth is mind-boggling!

The interesting thing about the words “I AM” is the emphasis on who God is. The name “I AM” implies that God is in the future and in the past. So, in reality, He is in every time! That may seem impossible but we need to remember that God exists outside the zone of time.

Since Jesus is God incarnate then we know He knows the future and the famous name for God “I AM” applies to Jesus too.

So, this “I AM”-ness of the Trinity means that Jesus not only knows the future but He is in the future . . . and in the present and past! This may seem impossible but, again, God does not exist in our limited environment.

Jesus didn’t say He “was”, “is going to be” or “will be at different points of time” the Alpha and Omega but He said, “ I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.” (Revelation 1:8, bold emphasis added) We know that Jesus was at the end while being at the beginning and at the beginning while being crucified for the fall that would soon occur after the Creation.

“I AM” doesn’t just represent a fancy title for the Almighty God but it marks everything He has done and is doing in the world!

So, the we can now acknowledge the importance of Jesus’ prophecies. The below is a short list of Jesus’ main prophecies:

  • Destruction of the Temple (Matthew 24:1-2)
  • Many “false Christs” (we see this all the time) (Matthew 24:5)
  • Christians will be persecuted (Matthew 5:10-11, 44, 10:23, 23:34, 24:9-10, etc.)
  • and many more!

The most important things about Jesus’ prophecies are the message they carry and when they have or will come true!
