About a month ago, I was talking to a person about a series of books. They were suggesting the books to me. She, presumably was a Christian, and she was telling me about these specific books.
Now, somewhere along the conversation she must have thought it wise to give me an insight into what the books were like. She told me they were, “raw and like in the real world”. I could see this wasn’t going anywhere good.
Soon after, she asked me how old I was. I told her and she said, “well, it has some cursing and such but you’re old enough to read that stuff.”
I first found this statement interesting because a complete stranger was letting me know what was “OK” and what was not. The second interesting thought was that this person thought, after a certain age, certain sin was “OK” even if I was a Christian.
This breaks my heart because this is where so many Christians have gone. The belief is, after a certain age certain things are allowed. Certain words can be said. Certain pleasures can be experimented with. This is wrong.
No where can you find in the Bible, or in God’s nature, that Christians, or anyone for that matter, should be able to sin because they have reached a certain age. That is completely wrong and unbiblical. I believe we need to take the advice of Paul in Romans 12:2:
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
