A major difference between Christianity and all the other religions is that Christianity states that Jesus Christ is the only way to Salvation. If a person claiming to be a Christian says that Christ is not the only way . . . then I would challenge their religion.
Why do Christians say Jesus is the only way?
Christians say Jesus is the only way because Jesus Himself proclaimed it. On multiple occasions Jesus gave the meaning that He was the only way to Salvation. He said it when He was talking about sheep: (John 10:9 and 11) “I am the door: by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture . . . I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.”
In both the above instances Jesus clearly stated that He was the only way (door to pen) someone could get to the ultimate safety (the pen or heaven). In another time Jesus clearly stated He was the only way!
Jesus saith unto him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.”
So, Christians say He is the only way because He himself stated it on multiple occasions.
Why can’t there be other ways?
The above question is a very reasonable one. If God is so loving why can’t He just allow all the religions to be a “way” to salvation? Well, once again, this teaching contradicts the Christian faith because of what Jesus said and did.
See, Jesus was the only One Who was 100% God and 100% man and completely sinless. He is the only One Who could do it for one thing. And, furthermore, why would God make a billion different ways to get to Him when He can have one perfect, holy way?
If there were many different ways to heaven how would we know which way is for sure? Which way is going to get us there? Why did God make so many different ways? Why couldn’t He just make one? And, with that, we get right back to where we were in the beginning:
It just wouldn’t make sense if there was more than one way.
