Jesus Christ loved children, as it says in Luke 18:16:

But Jesus called them unto Him, and said, “Suffer little children to come unto Me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.”

Interesting that Jesus called little children (“little children” in this verse can mean a newborn to a toddler) part of the kingdom of God. Of course, many people can take this verse and translate it to mean that anybody under a certain age is automatically going to heaven when they die. Although I do agree that there is a certain age of “innocence” I would never go out and put a direct age on it since each child is different. However, I feel I have gone down a rabbit trail.

When God called them part of the kingdom of God, for the Jews, this was the highest honor. What must have been going through their minds . . .

“Kingdom of God?”

For the Jew, the kingdom of God was a literal kingdom where the Messiah would set up His throne and reign from. For the Jews to hear that children are of the kingdom of God was a bold statement. That is why I view it as so important.

Here is Christ saying that children, babies, infants, newborns, etc. are the of the kingdom of God! Surely, He did not mean for them to be murdered on a daily basis in the world.
